Welcome to Giving Sir Gar

Carmarthenshire Association of Voluntary Services (CAVS) has launched Giving Sir Gâr which is an innovative approach to fundraising which aims to keep the ‘giving' in Carmarthenshire.

Giving Sir Gâr offers donors and businesses a larger return on their donations. Supporters will be aware that their investment will be shared equally among a range of charities in the county, thus maximizing the impact on local communities.

Giving Sir Gâr wishes to thank, and promote, those businesses and organisations actively making an effort to enhance their Corporate Social Responsibility within Carmarthenshire.

"Linking People Who Care With Local Causes That Matter"

Giving Sir Gar organised three events held nationally in partnership with Business in the Community, WCVA, Community Foundation of Wales and the Institute of Fundraising. The West Wales event also included area groupings from Pembrokeshire, Ceredigion, Swansea, Neath Port Talbot and Powys.

The workshops will drew on the experience of the partner organisations, the findings from research with the voluntary sector and business in Wales and the lessons from the pathfinder project lead by us, here in Carmarthenshire, called Corporate Challenge.

The Strategic Action Plan for The Third Sector clearly sets out the strong case for action to develop closer links between the voluntary sector and business, both to increase the sector's capacity, and to maximise the business advantages from community engagement.

The business sector can contribute in a variety of ways to strengthening the Third Sector, providing a major source of volunteers through employee volunteering schemes, expertise especially in relation to business and financial management and facilitate ‘payroll giving' schemes, as well as of course providing sponsorship and other forms of funding.

Giving Sir Gâr was delighted that Mark James, Chief Executive, Carmarthenshire County Council showed his support to our area partnerships by opening the event in Carmarthenshire.

The Giving Sir Gar team organised the three national events in Wales in order to spread the word of Corporate Social Responsibility; the following videos captured the highlights of each event.
